The Exchanged Life 4
Today we understand another answer in how to live the exchanged life, our life for Christ’s life.
Dr. Charles Stanley’s testimony (Charles Stanley is someone who has taught the exchanged life for years on his radio broadcasts, and TV programs).
The following is a quote from him.
“Here I was trying and struggling to live the Christian life doing the best I knew how, but somehow never feeling that I could quite match up to what
God expected of me. To be able to enjoy living the Christian life was always beyond my reach. Then something happened. I began to understand a simple truth. I was set free, and what I had been trying to do so desperately began to flow
without effort. When I started to understand the truth of this message, it revolutionized my life.
What is God’s purpose for His children?
is to give up our flesh patterns and trust Him, knowing He alone has all things under His control.
This diagram explains the Negative Programmed Flesh. The flesh is any way or means by which we try to meet our own needs through our effort. We learn when relinquishing our own thoughts that external
circumstances are not the problem. The problem is there to reveal to us that our needs (or the needs of others) cannot be met by our strength.
Messages by parents, or siblings,
or friends, loved ones, have brought us and shaped us into the person we are today. These messages control our belief system and feelings. We have learned from life experiences, that our self-image needs to be protected by us by meeting our
own needs. This reasoning includes our defense mechanism.
I’m sure you have heard people say, “If I don’t help myself, who will?” Believing the last statement
is a learned flesh pattern and behavior. When we give this felling time to develop, it becomes our behavior and performs in the belief system of our soul. It becomes the way we function. For we are spirit, soul, and body. Our soul is
where our self-life takes over before salvation. It makes our experiences our belief system.
We all have basic God-given needs which God desires for us to fulfill. He wants us to
know love, security in Him, as well as enjoy the life we are living. God desires us to know significance and value in this life. But if we are functioning out of our own resources (which are brought on by flesh patterns of self-sufficiency),
we are not able to operate in the joy God has intended for us.
In Galatians 5:19-21, it speaks of the works of the flesh.
19 – Now the works
of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envying, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of which
I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Back to Charles Stanley
Dr. Stanley learned was that there was no way he could live the Christian Life by functioning out of his flesh patterns. Step by step we understand it is impossible to live the Christian Life through our self-effort. God never intended for us too.
He always wanted for us to learn how to live life through Him. Galatians 2:20.
